New genetic beginnings

Updated: Mar 15, 2021

I am happy to share some insight with you regarding the developments at Taaibosch Piggery over the last 2 years. Since 2018 we have been busy to create a robust and future orientated approach to our business and related entities. The vision of the Taaibosch Group was born and since then structured to include Taaibosch Piggery, Taaibosch Genetics, Taaibosch Feed Mill and Taaibosch Organics, all represented by Taaibosch as brand and corporate entity. Taaibosch is owned and operated by CP and Gerda Kriek and include several operating entities (including Bloubank Estates Pty Ltd).

A lot of effort and focus has gone into the development and establishment of Taaibosch Genetics, which is the entity tasked with breeding and improving our pure breed genetics at the Nucleus production site. This includes the importation of frozen semen from world class genetic companies, chosen for specific breeds and traits. We are pleased to announce that our first shipment from Genesus Genetics (https://www.genesus.com/) arrived on the 28th of July 2020 and the first sows were inseminated on the 17th of August, indeed a major step forward for our herd and the production of quality slaughter pigs. The frozen semen will be used on both our commercial herd Platinum sows as well as our pure breed Nucleus sows.

As we engage over the next few weeks and months, I am sure you will become aware of what is in store for Taaibosch and how we aim to establish our business within the South African Agricultural Industry and how we are Leading Through Innovation.
